Who we are
There’s an intriguing story in the Christian scriptures where the disciples, overwhelmed by thousands of hungry people, urge Jesus to send them away so they can find food. But to their amazement, he responds, “You feed them!” They only have five loaves and two fish but it would cost half a year’s wages to pay for what was needed—it seemed impossible.
In the face of immense need God calls us to offer the little we have—our time, money, and energy—to those who cross our path. To the age-old question, “Why does God allow suffering in the world?” He turns it back to us, asking, “Why do you allow it?”
It’s in this spirit that Small Mercies Trust was founded to provide small but meaningful grants to relieve poverty, demonstrating that even the simplest acts of kindness can make a big difference.
